History - Profile
Alara Agri Business, the world's largest producer and exporter of fresh cherries and figs, has become the global leader by revolutionizing agricultural practices and using advanced fruit processing technology. Alara products are distributed to major retailers in 22 countries across 5 continents. Alara works with over 2,000 growers and employs more than 2,500 workers during the season.

Chronological History

  • 1984 - Started exporting fresh black figs
  • 1986 - Alara is established
  • 1989 - Kerim Taner started at Alara
  • 1992 - Added cherries to the product portfolio
  • 1995 - Planted first alara cherry orchard
  • 1996 - Built first mobile hydro-cooler
  • 1998 - Built the central packing facility in Bursa
  • 2003 - Imported the cherry line from USA
  • 2003 - Invested in Patagonia, Argentina to prolong the cherry supply up to 8 months of the year
  • 2003 - Certified for globalgap for Alara orchards
  • 2004 - Certified Alara growers (PMO)
  • 2005 - Kerim Taner won the Entrepreneur of the year award the Ernst & Young
  • 2006 - Imported GP cherry line from Australia
  • 2008 - Become a part of the Univeg Group
  • 2009 - Risk Management Program for residues
  • 2009 - Started using XSense for real time on-line temperature management during transport
  • 2010 - Designed the on-line real time QC system.
